Our Families

NANA’s House is a contracted agency through the Suffolk County Department of Social Services, housing homeless families with children. This sense of family is felt in each one of our shelters.

Our program identifies all obstacles preventing a family from maintaining permanent housing and from being self-sufficient. Each family is assessed to ensure the implementation of appropriate services.

We strive to empower each family with the skills required to remain independent, productive members of society. To make certain the success of the family within the community, we not only provide services and resources, but also serve as a liaison to such services as well.

Services and Resources include:

  • Early Education Intervention

  • One-On-One Life Skills Tutoring

  • Employment Skills Development

  • Social Work Assistance

  • Mental Health and Preventative Health Referrals

  • Nutrition Information

  • Entitlement Advocacy

  • Homelessness Prevention Intervention

  • Drug and Alcohol Referrals

  • Community Linkage

  • HIV Education and Prevention

  • Educational Advocacy (ensuring that children remain in the district they attended prior to becoming homeless)
